Protests Intensify in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir as Rights Movement Gains Momentum

Thousands Join Massive Protest in Rawalakot

Demonstrations demanding greater rights and administrative reforms in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) have continued to gather momentum, with protest organizers claiming that the movement has entered its fourth week. Thousands of people reportedly assembled at Rawalakot's Eidgah Ground, where organizers described the rally as one of the largest since the campaign began.

The movement is being led by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which says it is seeking the implementation of a series of public welfare and governance-related demands. Protest organizers claim the campaign has received widespread public support across several parts of PoK.

JAAC Leader Makes Allegations Against Pakistani Authorities

During the rally, JAAC leader Sardar Aman Khan made a number of allegations against Pakistani authorities. He claimed that young people in the region had previously received weapons through Pakistan's military establishment and questioned why peaceful protesters are now being labeled as extremists.

References to Alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed Rally

Aman Khan also referred to a rally allegedly organized by the banned militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed in Rawalakot last year. He alleged that the event was allowed to proceed with official permission and security arrangements, while peaceful demonstrators are now facing restrictions.

Reuters and other independent organizations have not verified these specific claims, and there has been no immediate official response from Pakistani authorities.

Protest Leaders Outline 38 Key Demands

According to protest leaders, the movement is based on 38 key demands, including issues related to governance, public services, and civil rights. Organizers warned that if their demands are not addressed, the demonstrations could expand further.

Some speakers at the rally also expressed political views regarding the future of the region and called for changes in Islamabad's policies.

International Attention on the PoK Protests

The demonstrations have also drawn attention outside the region. Protest organizers said members of the Kashmiri diaspora have held demonstrations in front of Pakistani diplomatic missions in several countries to highlight their concerns.

Political Impact and Regional Developments

The situation in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir continues to attract regional attention as demonstrations persist. Observers say the developments could further increase political pressure on authorities, while the Pakistani government has yet to issue a comprehensive response to the latest statements made by protest leaders.

Hyderabad: With the aim of strengthening its presence in Telangana, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its organizational efforts under the guidance of the central leadership. The party is treating the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections as a crucial political battle, believing that establishing a strong base in Hyderabad will pave the way for success in the next Telangana Assembly elections. As part of this strategy, BJP National President Nitin Nabin is scheduled to visit Telangana for a three-day tour. During his visit, Nitin Nabin will hold a special meeting with GHMC booth-level committee leaders this evening. US Supreme Court Upholds Birthright Citizenship
US Supreme Court Upholds Birthright Citizenship, Bringing Relief to Indian-American Families

Washington, D.C.: The Indian-American community has welcomed the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling reaffirming birthright citizenship, describing it as a major relief for immigrant families living in the United States. The decision preserves the long-standing constitutional principle that children born on U.S. soil are entitled to American citizenship, regardless of their parents' immigration status or temporary visa category. The Supreme Court rejected former President Donald Trump's attempt to restrict birthright citizenship through an executive order, reaffirming protections under the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The ruling ensures that children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants or parents holding temporary visas, including H-1B visas, continue to receive U.S. citizenship at birth. Reacting to the verdict, Chintan Patel, Executive Director of Indian American Impact, said the judgment provides much-needed reassurance to thousands of immigrant families and safeguards the constitutional rights of future generations. Community leaders noted that the proposed restrictions would have disproportionately affected Indian and other South Asian immigrant families. Indian-American community leader Ajay Jain Bhutoria described the judgment as a historic victory for immigrant communities and constitutional values. Meanwhile, Khanderao Kand, President of FIIDS, said that more than 1.2 million Indian professionals continue to wait for employment-based green cards in the United States. He added that the country currently has an estimated 600,000 to 700,000 H-1B visa holders, with Indians accounting for over 70% of them. Community organizations believe the Supreme Court's decision will provide significant relief to H-1B visa holders and other immigrant families by preserving legal certainty for children born in the United States while reinforcing a constitutional principle that has existed for more than a century.
